A web application is a piece of software or code that is written to perform a specific task. Confused? Don’t be!
The term “web application” is really anything you can think of that goes on the Internet; it can be added to an existing website, or work as a stand-alone product or service.
Apps can be online games, database-driven directories, funky social tools (such as our Love, from Twitter) or an interactive feature on a website that no one has thought of doing before.
