We’re ‘Running in the Halls’ but you can call us RITH.
We hail from the land of delicious gravy laden Yorkshire Puddings, eclectic ales and the post industrial town full of charm, character and cultural diversity called Huddersfield. Once known for its pioneering textile mills, Huddersfield is a veritable hub of creativity, art, industry and the place we call home. The people of Huddersfield are friendly and courteous and we’re no exception.
What do we do
We’re a small but competent team who design and make things that deliver results to the people who commission us. We see successful design as a cooperation and collaborative effort between people who want something done, and people who can help them achieve a result in an expert fashion, to budget and on time – by people who love design.
Although we started as RITH in 2009, we’ve had many prior years of experience in developing websites, web applications and design solutions that are well considered for their purpose and audience.
From books and print, to interactive art and complex business critical web application, we have the know-how and the technical expertise to make good things happen for you!
How do we do it
We understand first by asking
We start every project by asking lots of questions and doing the research that lead to defining products efficiently and designing services that fulfil their purpose and promises, in doing so transparently- we build lasting relationships with clients and who we look after with genuine interest.
Every project is specific and every client is unique
We consider factors which are relevant to you and your audience and offer practical methods of managing projects effectively. If you’re really hands-on we involve you minutely in the process, if you prefer to leave things to us, we define what we will do, and report back to you on agreed milestones and targets, so everyone is happy.
Above all
We design to deliver results
Some of the most talented designers and programmers are quite result driven and we are no exception, as well as tried and tested design factors, we consider the social context and strategic business needs of our clients and using relevant design processes for each job, we can consult on the best possible way forward.
Our Team
One of the fantastic things in a small team is that we all have an acute awareness of each others fields and fulfil multiple roles, this is what helps us be agile and deliver confidently. Our response time is quicker than average and we look after the projects we deliver with great pride.
Iman Moradi
Hello! As a designer and former lecturer, I tend to genuinely be in my element when I’m designing new things and re-envisioning the old. I spend a good deal of time being the face of RITH, designing interfaces and interactions, and seeking new collaborations. My weekly routine also involves spending time meeting our clients, communicating how the projects are going as well as keeping my head busy with ideas that relate to making contributions to our projects.
Last year I completed a long term collaboration on a book called Glitch: Designing Imperfection, which enjoyed a good few weeks on Amazon’s graphics arts best seller list, and has had a lot of exposure in mainstream and specialist press.

I have an MA in Smart Design which was concerned with making enjoyable interactions within complex systems. I chose to focus on libraries and this is now a product area for RITH, where we are working with a number of UK Libraries and the University of Huddersfield.
I was a lecturer in Multimedia / Virtual Reality Design at the Department of Creative Technology at University of Huddersfield for three years and followed that by a year of being a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art. I left teaching in 2009 to found RITH with my good friends.
Talk to me about new projects, hard sci-fi, backyard astronomy and interaction design. Actually pretty much anything, I’ll no doubt store it somewhere for future recall!

Sam Croft
Hi, I’m Sam – designer, programmer and database builder. I have a degree in Multimedia Design and have been designing and developing for the web for over 10 years. My previous business was called Archa Solutions which I ran with my partner Alex.
My passion is creating beautiful websites that are easy to use and get to the top of search engine results quickly and naturally. I combine my expertise in search engine optimisation and accessibility with business sense to ensure you are investing in solutions which fulfil their potential.
I have a natural affinity to code, picking up new languages very quickly and considering the longevity of what we deliver. You can often find me reading documentation for web API’s and developer libraries to make sure projects have the very best and latest enhancements.
I love conceptualising and making web applications, whether it’s Love, from Twitter, designing slick WordPress themes or creating systems which are secure, robust, mission critical and used by hundreds of users.
When I’m not developing I’m probably watching a Grand Prix or gardening (my new found love).
Talk to me about user journeys, accessibility and Star Wars.
Iman on Sam: I genuinely can’t imagine working with anyone other than Sam on web projects and our own projects at RITH, he is the technical cornerstone who makes projects happen and such a competent designer as well that puts him in the top 10% of creatives at large.
Alison Mealey
Hi I’m Alison, I’m an artist and programmer, and the Art Director at RITH.
I prefer to launch straight into developing and I’ve been known to write copy, create pixel art, construct 3D models and program in OpenGL and C.
At RITH I’m the lead on developing native iPhone / iPad apps and the resident games designer. I’ve designed and developed three iPhone apps which are both on the iTunes store at the moment; two of which are our own Brian and his cousin Billy Bob. I’m responsible for the vector / pixel aesthetic that you see on all our titles.
I have a degree in Virtual Reality Design a Masters in 3D Digital Design and my artwork has been displayed in various exhibitions across Europe, currently my work is represented by Fabio Paris Art Gallery in Italy.
I like crumpets and you can talk to me about being a level 80 priest in Warcraft!
Iman on Alison : Alison’s cross disciplinary approach, being an artist working at RITH is extremely valuable, she’s the rare designer / developer who intuitively finds solutions and isn’t afraid of trying to do something the hardcore way! Her work is testament to the fact that talent knows no bounds and skills in different domains of work can influence each other positively. Alison can be very pragmatic and will bring a project down to earth and on schedule when necessary.
